A balanced BARF diet

Raw feeding is simple in theory and fussy in practice. Muscle meat alone is not a balanced diet. Offal, bone or a bone substitute, and a few plant extras have to sit in a ratio that matches the animal in front of you.

Oils, algae and snacks can fill the gaps that a home mix often misses — especially omega-3, iodine and a bit of fibre. Keep the extras modest. The bowl should still look like food, not a pharmacy.

Hygiene matters as much as the recipe. Thaw in the fridge, wash bowls, and do not leave raw food out on a warm day. If a dog has a sensitive gut, ask before you jump in with a fully raw plan.
